Grizzlies' Marc Gasol: Notches triple-double in double-OT thriller

Gasol registered 28 points (11-25 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT), 11 rebounds, 11 assists, two steals and two blocks across 46 minutes in Monday's 110-108 double-overtime win over the Pelicans.

Analysis:

The two extra periods of play helped Gasol notch his second career triple-double, but the Grizzlies wouldn't have even been in that position in the first place if the center hadn't provided a number of clutch plays along the way. His game-tying three-pointer in the waning seconds of regulation extended the game to overtime, and he grabbed the offensive rebound on his missed three-point attempt in the first overtime before kicking it out to Troy Daniels for the game-tying bucket. He would then go on to knock down a jumper late in the second overtime period that held up as the game-winning shot. As those series of critical plays illustrate, Gasol remains the fulcrum of the Grizzlies' attack while star point guard Mike Conley (back) and a number of other key players remain out with injuries, so fantasy owners should be able to count on him for elevated production from his season-long averages. He's averaging 22.8 points (on 52.9% shooting from the field), 5.8 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 2.0 three-pointers, 1.3 blocks and 1.2 steals in 35.7 minutes per game over his last six contests.
