J.R. Smith suffers knee injury vs. Raptors

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports / Reuters

Cavaliers shooting guard J.R. Smith suffered a left knee injury in the first quarter against the Toronto Raptors on Monday night, and will travel back to Cleveland to be examined at the Cleveland Clinic, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin.

Smith sustained the injury when he came down down awkwardly after hitting a tough floater over Raptors center Jonas Valanciunas.

Smith hobbled down to the other end of the floor, then collapsed when the Cavs gave a foul to stop play. He lay on the floor for several moments while attended by Cleveland's training staff, and eventually limped to the locker room on his own.

Citing team sources McMenamin reports that initial x-rays were negative, but that Smith will probably get "a deeper look" by a medical professional.
