The Sacramento Kings are doing due diligence before possibly penalizing Matt Barnes.

The 36-year-old small forward is under investigation by police after being accused of choking a woman and assaulting two other people early Monday in New York.

Barnes' attorney said his client is cooperating with the New York Police Department.

The team responded with the following statement:

We have clear standards of conduct and behavior expected of the entire Kings organization - on and off the court. We are working with all parties involved to gather information in order to take any appropriate next steps.

DeMarcus Cousins was reportedly with Barnes at the NYC nightclub following Sunday night's loss at MSG.

Sacramento doesn't have to make any rash decisions regarding either player, as its next game is Wednesday in Dallas.
