76ers' Jahlil Okafor: Ruled out for next two contests

Okafor (illness) has been ruled out for both Monday's game against the Nuggets and Tuesday's matchup with the Grizzlies, Tom Moore of the Bucks County Courier Times reports.

Analysis:

Okafor came down with the stomach flu earlier Monday, and despite receiving treatment throughout the day, he's still not feeling good enough to give it a go. Rather than having him travel to Memphis in advance of Tuesday's game, the 76ers will allow Okafor to rest up back home in preparation for a return to the lineup Thursday against the Pelicans. In Monday's game, Richaun Holmes will presumably serve as the top backup to Joel Embiid, but with Embiid scheduled to sit out for rest Tuesday, Holmes would likely be in line to start at center in that contest and take on a large workload. Dario Saric and/or Ersan Ilyasova may also be asked to provide some spot minutes at center during the next two contests.
