Here is a look at the Squad Up daily NBA fantasy picture for Monday, December 5:

Dynamic Duos

  • PG John Wall (99K) & C Marcin Gortat (67K), Wizards (at Nets): Brooklyn has the league's worst Defensive Efficiency east of Portland. Wall and Gortat can fill the box score without hurting each other's fantasy production. In fact, Wall averages 2.4 assists to Gortat alone. Few tandems have shown as much on-court chemistry as these two.
  • PG Kemba Walker (76K) & SG Marco Belinelli (30K), Hornets (at Mavericks): The Mavericks have allowed opponents to shoot a league-worst 40% on 3-pointers, feeding right into the strengths of Charlotte's best long-range shooters, Walker (42% on 3's) and Belinelli (44.3%). Together, they make for a solid low-cost pairing for any format.
  • PG Jeff Teague (68K) & C Myles Turner (67K), Pacers (at Warriors): Playing the Clippers and Warriors back-to-back on the road is a brutal stretch, but if Golden State lets the Pacers stick around, it will necessitate heavy playing time for Teague and Turner. Consider this a tournament-only pairing.

Bargain Plays

  • SG E'Twaun Moore (33K), Pelicans (vs. Grizzlies): Moore slid into the starting lineup, finally demoting Tim Frazier to a backup role. He only played 23 minutes in the end, but was afforded 11 shots. With the Pelicans playing their second game in as many nights against a banged-up Grizzlies squad, Moore should see increased minutes.
  • PG Jameer Nelson (30K), Nuggets (at 76ers): Nelson has averaged 15.4 points and 6.6 assists in just over 30 MPG over his last five outings. He's moved back into a bench role but he can still be effective in 20-30 minutes of floor time, and the 76ers' defense doesn't offer much by way of resistance. Cash game value is a reasonable expectation.
  • SF Anthony Bennett (29K), Nets (vs. Wizards): Trevor Booker missed Saturday's game with an illness, allowing Bennett to move up from the end of the bench into the starting lineup. The former first-overall pick performed well, recording seven points and 14 rebounds in 23 minutes. Booker may return but Bennett has shown enough to warrant some more playing time.

Top Fades

  • PG James Harden (100K), Rockets (vs. Celtics): Harden has been an offensive maestro this season, but he'll run into trouble against the aggressive perimeter defense of Avery Bradley and Marcus Smart, who will attempt to cut off the head of Houston's offense. Harden averaged just 24 points and 3.5 assists in two games against Boston last season, so that strategy would probably serve the Celtics well.
  • PF Paul Millsap (76K), Hawks (vs. Thunder): Millsap is the most expensive PF on the 7 p.m. slate, but it's his injury concerns that make him a bust candidate. He hasn't played in the Hawks' previous two games, so even if he does find himself back in action, he will likely be eased into heavy minutes to avoid re-aggravating his hip.
  • C.J. McCollum (70K), Trail Blazers (at Bulls): McCollum will have to contend with the premium perimeter defense of Jimmy Butler. Chicago's opponents shoot the sixth-highest 3-point percentage, but take the sixth-fewest shots from long-range, so that advantage from the arc is somewhat neutralized.

Contrarian Options

  • SF Paul George (65K), Pacers (at Warriors): Take advantage off George's low salary and potential to be overlooked. After missing six of seven games, the Pacers' star made his return last night against the Clippers, and if Indiana has any hope of a close game against Golden State, they'll need their top two-way player to log solid minutes.
  • SG Avery Bradley (64K), Celtics (at Rockets): Isaiah Thomas has the reputation as Boston's top scorer and Al Horford is their best fantasy player overall, but Houston's defensive alignment will favor Bradley. Expect Patrick Beverley to guard Thomas, leaving Harden to pick up the multi-faceted Bradley.
  • PF Dario Saric (40K), 76ers (vs. Nuggets): Saric is coming off his finest pro performance, tallying 21-and-12 against an aggressive Celtics defense. The Nuggets' frontcourt is full of bruising bigs, so expect the 76ers to use Saric's range (37.9% on 3-pointers) to stretch the floor and open up the paint.
