Mavericks' Dirk Nowitzki: Out 'indefinetly'

Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle confirmed Saturday that Nowitzki (Achillies) will remain sidelined indefinitely, Eddie Sefko of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Analysis:

It appears the Mavericks are done trying to put a timetable on Nowitzki's return, as the big man has missed four straight games and has played in just five of 18 contests on the season while dealing with a strain right Achilles. The veteran big man has just played in just five of 18 games this season while dealing with an Achilles issue. With the 3-15 Mavericks already seemingly out of the playoff race, there's not much reason for the team to rush Nowitzki back to action, so it wouldn't be surprising if he was sidelined for several more games until he's 100 percent healthy.
