Clippers' Paul Pierce: Quiet in Tuesday's start

Pierce scored five points (1-7 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT) while adding three rebounds and a steal in 29 minutes during Tuesday's 127-122 overtime loss to the Nets.

Analysis:

The rust showed for the 39-year-old, who was playing in just his third game of the season while Blake Griffin got the night off to rest in advance of Thursday's game in Cleveland. Pierce is little more than a player-coach at this point in his career, so even if coach Doc Rivers does start working him into the Clippers' rotation more often, Pierce's days of double-digit scoring and clutch threes are long behind him.
