Mavericks' Dirk Nowitzki: Questionable Sunday vs. Pelicans

Nowitzki (Achilles) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Pelicans, Earl K. Sneed of Mavs.com reports.

Analysis:

Nowitzki has played in both of the Mavs' last two games after an eight-game absence due to a sore right Achilles, logging 27 minutes and scoring 15 points to go with six boards in Dallas' most recent contest Friday against the Cavaliers. While it hasn't been reported that Nowitzki suffered a setback with the Achilles following Friday's outing, the 2-13 Mavericks may not be eager to overexert him coming off the injury. As such, there's a chance he could be held out Sunday for maintenance-related reasons, which would likely open up the door for Dorian Finney-Smith to rejoin the starting five. An official update on Nowitzki's status should be handed down after the Mavs complete their morning shootaround.
