Rockets set NBA record with 50 3-point attempts vs. Kings
The Houston Rockets made camp around the 3-point line on Friday night against the Sacramento Kings and weren't at all willing to leave their perch.
In a 117-104 victory at Golden 1 Center, James Harden and Co. set a new league record by attempting a staggering 50 shots (21 made) from beyond the arc. With 85 total shots for the game, that means 58.8 percent of their attempts were 3-pointers.

The previous record was held by the Dallas Mavericks when they converted 18-of-49 from 3-point range in a 127-117 win over the New Jersey Nets on March 5, 1996.
The Rockets nearly blew a 29-point lead when the Kings made a late surge and came to within eight points before head coach Mike D'Antoni's squad eventually ran away in the end. Had Sacramento pulled off the nearly impossible, it would have been the fifth-largest comeback ever and the biggest in seven years.
Houston already owned the NBA record for most 3-pointers made in a game with 23, which came against the Golden State Warriors on Feb. 5, 2013.
The Rockets' league-leading 37.1 3-point attempts per game is 2.2 more than the second-ranked Cleveland Cavaliers.
