Mavericks' Dirk Nowitzki: Will play Wednesday vs. Clippers

Nowitzki (Achilles) will play in Wednesday's game against the Clippers, Tim MacMahon of ESPN.com, reports.

Analysis:

Nowitzki has missed the last eight games with a sore right Achilles, but after taking part in morning shootaround without incident, the Mavericks have cleared him for a return. While Nowitzki will presumably start at power forward, he'll be held to a strict minutes restriction, according to Earl K. Sneed, so it may be unwise to count on the veteran to deliver a lofty point total in his first game back.
