Report: Rockets pull latest offer to Motiejunas

Troy Taormina / USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Rockets have pulled their most recent offer to restricted free-agent big man Donatas Motiejunas, sources told ESPN's Marc Stein.

The two sides have been at an impasse since the summer, and Wednesday is the deadline for teams to sign players if they hope to trade those players at any point this season.

Houston will retain Motiejunas' RFA rights through the end of the season unless and until he signs an offer sheet with another team that the Rockets decline to match.

The Rockets actually traded Motiejunas to the Detroit Pistons at last season's deadline, but the deal was nullified when the 26-year-old - who missed more than half the season while recovering from back surgery - failed his physical.

After a breakout 2014-15 campaign, Motiejunas averaged just 6.2 points and 2.9 rebounds in 2015-16 while shooting a career-low 43.9 percent from the field and 28.1 percent from 3-point range in 37 games.
