Melo in awe of Porzingis' skills on the court

Arguably no one has been more impressed with Kristaps Porzingis' hot start to the season than his New York Knicks teammate, Carmelo Anthony.

The nine-time All-Star praised the Latvian phenom after witnessing him torch the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday, saying he didn't expect for him to be this good, this soon.

"I'm still in awe of kind of some of the things he does on the court," Melo told ESPN's Ian Begley. "Like yesterday, he made a move and I'm like, 'Damn.' You know what I mean? I'm still like a fan of kind of his talent and his skill level. I always thought it would kind of take longer to get acclimated. He's doing a great job with just kind of taking it day by day, still getting a feel for the game and figuring it out on the fly."

The 7-foot-3 power forward has been terrific through the first 13 games of his sophomore campaign, averaging 20.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.1 blocks on 49.5 percent shooting and 39.1 percent from deep.

The Knicks have failed to get consistent play from many of their role players in 2016-17, but may not need much secondary scoring with the way the 21-year-old has played thus far.
