Pacers' Paul George: Unlikely to play Sunday

Pacers coach Nate McMillan hinted that George (ankle), who didn't practice Saturday, isn't likely to play in Sunday's game against the Thunder, Nate Taylor of the Indianapolis Star reports. "It is a long season, and you're going to have injuries," McMillan said. "When that opportunity presents itself, we need for you to be productive. Glenn [Robinson] has worked hard, and he'll get his opportunity [to start for George on Sunday] night."

Analysis:

The Pacers are officially listing George as questionable for Sunday with the sore left ankle, which prevented him from playing in Friday's blowout loss to the Suns. However, with the franchise cornerstone requiring an MRI and X-ray on his ankle Saturday, it sounds as though George could require further time before the injury is behind him. With George's top backup, C.J. Miles (knee) already ruled out Sunday, Robinson figures to enter the starting lineup at small forward, with rookie Georges Niang also likely in line to claim a spot in McMillan's rotation.
