Cavaliers' J.R. Smith: Questionable for Friday's game

Smith (ankle) went through morning shootaround but is listed as questionable to play in Friday's game against the Pistons, Dave McMenamin of ESPN reports.

Analysis:

Smith has missed the last three games with the ankle injury and it has lingered longer than originally expected. With the Cavaliers' next game after Friday's outing not until Wednesday, it's possible the team could give Smith the night off to ensure he is ready to go by next week, but a decision likely won't be made until closer to tip-off. In the case that Smith is inactive, look or Iman Shumpert and Richard Jefferson to continue to play extended minutes on the wing.
