Report: Mavs to waive Quincy Acy, sign Jonathan Gibson

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports / Reuters

The Dallas Mavericks are waiving forward Quincy Acy and signing guard Jonathan Gibson, league sources tell The Vertical's Shams Charania.

Acy has been largely ineffective after signing with the Mavericks this summer, averaging just 2.2 points and 1.3 rebounds on 29.4 percent shooting.

Gibson has played overseas during the past six seasons, spending time in the Turkish Basketball Super League, Israeli Basketball Premier League, and most recently, the Chinese Basketball Association.

The 29-year-old was waived by the Mavericks last month after appearing in seven preseason games.

With Deron Williams and J.J. Barea both injured, the Mavericks were in desperate need of point guard depth, forcing them to use one of their roster spots on Gibson.
