Lakers' D'Angelo Russell: Hits seven threes in Tuesday's win

Russell finished with a season-high 32 points (11-20 FG, 7-13 3Pt, 3-4 FT) to go with eight rebounds, four assists and three steals in 31 minutes during Tuesday's 125-118 win against the Nets.

Analysis:

It was an all-around stellar effort for Russell, who exploded out of the gate. He nailed five straight three-pointers in the first seven minutes and ended the first quarter with 17 points. The second-year point guard can be a player who lets his impact on one end dictate his effort on the other, and that was true Tuesday, as he grabbed seven defensive boards and recorded three steals. He's on the cusp of becoming a legitimate perimeter threat, but it hasn't helped that he's not yet seeing a consistent 30-plus minute role. Even so, Russell has mostly met expectations for those who drafted him, as he's averaging 16.8 points (on 42.3% shooting), 4.7 assists, 3. 4 rebounds, 2.5 three-pointers and 1.2 steals per game.
