Heat's Wayne Ellington: Out for at least 'next couple of games'

Coach Erik Spoelstra said Monday that Ellington (quad) is progressing, but is still expected to miss additional time, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. "He's doing more," Spoelstra said of Ellington. "He won't be playing in the next couple of games, at least. It'll be a little bit of time before we even evaluate him. But he's doing more. That's good."

Analysis:

Ellington has yet to make his season debut due to a deep right quad bruise, but the veteran seems to have turned the corner in his recovery of late. He's already resumed running in a pool and has increased his involvement in shooting drills, though the Heat have yet to clear him for full contact. Once he returns to action in late November or early December, Ellington figures to see only light minutes off the bench as a three-point shooting specialist.
