Knicks' Hernangomez: I won't help the other team up again

Willy Hernangomez has quickly learned from Thursday night's mistake.

The New York Knicks rookie experienced his "Welcome to the NBA" moment after attempting to help up the Brooklyn Nets' Rondae Hollis-Jefferson in the fourth quarter. Hernangomez was quickly pulled away by Brandon Jennings, and was promptly reprimanded by his Knicks teammates.

Jennings went on to criticize Hernangomez for his kind behavior, saying the 6-foot-11 forward was showing Hollis-Jefferson "too much respect."

"He (Jennings) said, 'Willy this is a war, so you can’t help nobody on the other team on the court,'" Hernangomez told Al Iannazzone of Newsday.

"After the game you can go to dinner with your friends or whatever, but during the game you can do nothing to the other team. I learned about that. I never help anybody again in the game."

In spite of the apparent mistake, Hernangomez posted his best performance as a pro, collecting 14 points, six rebounds, and one steal in 14 minutes of action.
