Clippers' Paul Pierce: Doesn't play Monday in coach's decision

Pierce (coach's decision) didn't play in Monday's 114-82 win over the Pistons.

Analysis:

After missing the Clippers' first four games of the season with a sprained ankle, Pierce has been available off the bench for the last three contests, but hasn't seen the court. With the Clippers not indicating that Pierce has suffered a setback of any kind, it seems safe to conclude that he's simply not viewed as a rotation option for coach Doc Rivers. With Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan locked into starting roles in the frontcourt and Marreese Speights and Brandon Bass seemingly representing the top two big men off the bench, it doesn't look as though Pierce will often factor into the mix at power forward, the position he's expected to receive most of his time at in his final NBA campaign.
