Pelicans' Lance Stephenson: Likely to be released

Stephenson (groin) is expected to be waived by the Pelicans, Shams Charania of The Vertical reports.

Analysis:

The move is not yet official, but it appears Stephenson -- who is facing a long-term absence with his groin injury -- will be released to open up a roster spot for Archie Goodwin. The Pelicans figure to confirm in the near future whether or not Stephenson will be the player let go to make room for Goodwin.
