Report: Biden's motorcade forces Cavs players to Uber to game

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

The Cleveland Cavaliers didn't quite look like themselves Saturday night against the Philadelphia 76ers, and the U.S. election may be to blame.

Several Cavs experienced a delay while heading to Wells Fargo Center, as a motorcade reportedly transporting Vice President Joe Biden from a Hillary Clinton rally set back a team bus by about 35 minutes.

The bus stalled for so long that Kyrie Irving, Iman Shumpert, and J.R. Smith exited the vehicle and took an Uber to the arena, reports Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

Shump was less than pleased about the incident, which threw off his pregame routine.

"I'm going to have an attitude. Better not get fouled hard tonight," he told a team staffer before the contest, according to McMenamin.

The Uber trio went on to post negative plus/minus ratings, with Irving having the worst night of all. He finished with a season-low eight points on 3-of-17 shooting from the field.

While the defending champions as a whole played below their usual standard, they ultimately held on for a one-point win over the Sixers.

It's ironic that Clinton's presidential campaign would hurt the Cavaliers' cause, as LeBron James has publicly endorsed her and will reportedly campaign with her Sunday.
