George Hill wants to sign extension with Jazz

Point guard George Hill says he's open to signing a contract extension with the Utah Jazz this season before he hits unrestricted free agency next summer.

"If that's the case, then I would be very interested," Hill told ESPN's Tim MacMahon. "But I'm going to let them take care of that and just do what I can control."

Hill is one of a handful of NBA veterans able to sign an extension during the season, although it can't be more than three additional seasons long.

Hill, who turns 31 in May, is in the final season of a five-year, $40-million contract he signed with the Indiana Pacers in 2012.

"I'm not the type of guy that likes to move around and go from team to team," said Hill. "I really like it here. My family likes it here. I've got some friends here. The city's been great for me so far, and it's a nice place to raise a family, so hopefully I get an opportunity to re-sign here if they would love me to be here."

The Pacers dealt Hill to the Jazz in a three-team trade in July that sent point guard Jeff Teague from Atlanta to Indy. A solid two-way player, Hill is leading Utah in scoring, assists, and tied for tops in steals. Teague, meanwhile, leads the Pacers in helpers but is shooting 22 percent from the field in four games.
