Brook Lopez's four 3-pointers match career total in win over Pistons

Even a prodigal low-post scorer like Brook Lopez isn't impervious from the prevailing trends of the pace-and-space era.

Lopez made 4-of-8 from deep in Wednesday's 109-101 victory over the Detroit Pistons. He scored a game-high 34 points to lead the upstart Brooklyn Nets to their second win of the year.

What's the significance of his outburst? Lopez's four triples matched his entire career total of 3-point makes. He had tried 38 threes across nine seasons while making only four before doubling that total on Wednesday.

Lopez's career shooting night is a reflection of newly-installed Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson who has everyone on the team - even a center like Lopez - trying threes at will. Brooklyn ranks second in the league in 3-point attempts through the first two weeks of the season.
