Grizzlies' Tony Allen: Probable for Wednesday

Allen (knee) is listed as probable for Wednesday's tilt with the Pelicans.

Analysis:

Though he initially planned to wait until Wednesday to make his season debut, Allen returned from the sore right knee to play 19 minutes in the first half of the Grizzlies' back-to-back set Tuesday against the Timberwoles. He finished with only four points, four rebounds and one steal during his time on the court, but Allen's value has always gone beyond the box score. Even at age 34, Allen is still an elite perimeter defender, but it may take his some time to shake off the rust. It looks like he'll be able to play Wednesday, but the Grizzlies could opt to bring him off the bench again and limit his minutes. He's expected to settle into the starting role at shooting guard before long.
