Report: Thunder, Adams finalizing 4-year, $100M extension
The Oklahoma City Thunder and center Steven Adams are finalizing a four-year, $100-million extension, according to The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The deal would mark the end of a monumental day for the Thunder, who earlier on Monday agreed to a reported four-year, $84-million extension with guard Victor Oladipo.
The deadline for extending rookie-scale deals of fourth-year players is midnight Monday. After that, those players become locked in for restricted free agency at season's end. Adams would be the fifth such player to be extended before this year's deadline, after Oladipo, Giannis Antetokounmpo, C.J. McCollum, and Dennis Schroder.
The 7-foot Kiwi has blossomed into a dynamic two-way big, improving by leaps each year since the Thunder drafted him 12th overall in 2013. Last season's playoffs ushered in his breakout performance. Bringing his combination of quickness and size to bear, he averaged 10.1 points and 9.5 rebounds, played stalwart interior defense, and helped the Thunder to within a game of the finals.
In an expanded role early this season, Adams is averaging 13 points, nine rebounds, and 2.3 steals through three games.
