Pacers' Aaron Brooks: Will not play Friday

Brooks won't play Friday against the Nets due to a sore right knee.

Analysis:

Brooks was active for Wednesday's season opener against the Mavericks despite the knee issue, but he rode the pine for the whole game. It's possible that the point guard may have suffered a setback, but the Pacers still seem to be viewing him as day-to-day. With the Pacers kicking off a back-to-back set Friday, perhaps coach Nate McMillan opted to bench Brooks for the first game with the intention of easing him back in for Saturday's tilt with the Bulls. Regardless, official word on his status for that game should come shortly before tip off.
