Concerns about the young Phoenix Suns starting five were allayed when the core held its own in Wednesday's home opener against the Sacramento Kings.

On the other hand, the reserves gave up 16 points while scoring one in a 113-94 loss, the team's worst margin of defeat in a season opener, according to azcentral's Paul Coro.

Additionally, Suns' coach Earl Watson's defense allowed 51.2 percent shooting, even though the Kings were missing starting point guard Darren Collison.

“I don’t know who that team was last night,” Watson said of the defense. “But everything happens for a reason. So what we call a loss is a losing opportunity. Stay strong. We learn from it and we study it. We have the discipline to let it go.”

Suns reserves were outscored 30-3 in the first half. The team is working with the second-youngest roster (24.5 years) but with the NBA's 11th-lowest experience level (4.3 years).
