Spurs' Pau Gasol: Off to slow start to season

Gasol posted seven points (3-7 FG, 1-1 3Pt), six rebounds, one assist, one steal and one blocked shot across 21 minutes in Wednesday's 102-94 win over the Kings.

Analysis:

After missing out on the Kevin Durant sweepstakes this offseason, the Spurs were able to reel in Gasol as a nice consolation prize, but the veteran big man has yet to earn the full trust of coach Gregg Popovich. He's seen just 39 minutes across the Spurs' first two games, with his defensive limitations prompting Popovich to split the minutes between Gasol and Dewayne Dedmon. It's expected that Gasol will see his playing time rise as he gets more comfortable with his new teammates, but it may be a reach to expect him to come close to matching the 46 double-doubles he posted with the Bulls in 2015-16.
