Bulls' Taj Gibson: Double-doubles in opener

Gibson scored 18 points (8-13 FG, 2-2 FT) and added 10 rebounds and an assist in 28 minutes during Thursday's 105-99 win over the Celtics.

Analysis:

It was a strong season debut for Gibson, who easily outperformed Nikola Mirotic and Bobby Portis in the preseason to claim the starting power forward role. He has averaged between 26 and 29 minutes per game for the last three seasons, and his workload Thursday once again fell in that range. Gibson is 31 years old and has never averaged more than 13.0 points or 7.5 rebounds per game over a full season, so it's unlikely that he'll regularly challenge for double-doubles.
