Heat's Wayne Ellington: Ruled out vs. Hornets

Ellington (quad) has been formally ruled out for Friday's game against the Hornets, Anthony Chiang of the Palm Beach Post reports.

Analysis:

This news comes as no surprise after the Heat revealed earlier in the week that Ellington would likely miss multiple games to begin the season. The veteran has yet to return to practice since suffering a right quad bruise on Oct. 21, and coach Erik Spoelstra said Wednesday that Ellington has been limited to only stationary shooting and free throws. With both Ellington and Josh Richardson (knee) out, expect Dion Waiters, Tyler Johnson and Rodney McGruder to again handle the bulk of the workload at shooting guard.
