Raptors' DeMar DeRozan: Drops 40 in opener

DeRozan scored 40 points (17-27 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 6-6 FT) and added four rebounds, an assist and one steal across 34 minutes in Wednesday's 109-91 win over the Pistons.

Analysis:

DeRozan's hot streak began in the preseason, and he kept it going on Opening Night. He took one less shot than Jonas Valanciunas and Kyle Lowry combined, and the three of them together attempted 55 of the team's 86 total shots. Eventually, DeRozan's heater figures to come to an end and he and Lowry will take on a more even share of the scoring responsibilities, but that will still leave room for the shooting guard to surpass 20 points more often than not.
