Lakers' Nick Young: Will start Wednesday

Young will draw the start at shooting guard in Wednesday's season opener against the Rockets, Mike Bresnahan of Spectrum SportsNet reports.

Analysis:

Young was on the roster bubble not too long ago, but after an impressive and surprisingly efficient preseason, he endeared himself to new coach Luke Walton and will be rewarded with a starting nod. It's unclear if the Lakers plan to stick with Young in that capacity going forward, however, as Lou Williams spent most of the preseason at shooting guard on the top unit, while Jordan Clarkson filled a high-minute role off the bench. Young's role in Walton's rotation in subsequent games may ultimately be decided based on how he performs in the opener.
