Hawks' Dennis Schroder: Signs four-year, $70 million extension with Hawks

Schroder signed a four-year, $70 million contract extension with the Hawks on Wednesday, Marc Stein of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis:

The Hawks demonstrated they had full confidence in Schroder this offseason after shipping former starting point guard Jeff Teague to the Pacers at the end of June. Schorder turned in modest averages throughout the preseason schedule, but saw his minutes restricted most nights and will have plenty of opportunity to serve as one of the Hawks' offensive leaders during the upcoming campaign. He's now locked in with the Hawks through the 2020-21 campaign, and given the team's existing depth issues at point guard, Schroder could be in store for a 30-plus minute role right off the bat in his first year as a full-time starter.
