Spurs' LaMarcus Aldridge: Puts up 26 and 14 in season opener

Aldridge contributed 26 points (10-20 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 5-6 FT), 14 rebounds (eight offensive), three assists and one steal across 35 minutes in Tuesday's 129-100 win over the Warriors.

Analysis:

The Spurs didn't get much production from their big-ticket offseason import, Pau Gasol (two points, four rebounds in 18 minutes), but Aldridge and Kawhi Leonard (35 points, five rebounds, five steals in 32 minutes) were more than capable of doing the heavy lifting on both ends of the court. Aldridge's numbers improved across every month of last season, and now that he has a full year of experience in San Antonio's system under his belt, he figures to turn in enhanced overall production in 2016-17. He certainly got off to a good start with his double-double performance against last season's Western Conference champions.
