76ers' Ben Simmons: To return this season

Sixers CEO Scott O'Neil said Simmons (foot) will return at some point this season, CSN Philadelphia's Jessica Camerato reports.

Analysis:

O'Neil addressed speculation Wednesday that Simmons' agent, Rich Paul, might push to have the No. 1 overall pick sit out the entire season after suffering a broken bone in his foot early in training camp. "No, it's not true," O'Neil said. "Yeah, [Simmons] will be back." While the decision may not ultimately be up to O'Neil, it's nonetheless encouraging that the 76ers appear intent on bringing Simmons back at some point later in the season. As of now, Simmons is without a timetable for a return, though coach Brett Brown hinted recently that he hopes to have the versatile forward back in action sometime in January.
