Rockets' Patrick Beverley: Undergoes successful surgery

Beverley (knee) underwent successful surgery on Tuesday and is expected to be out three weeks, Calvin Watkins of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis:

Beverley will begin the season on the bench as he nurses his knee after undergoing arthroscopic surgery. With Pablo Prigioni's surprise release earlier in the week, Tyler Ennis will be the main backup behind James Harden, who is taking over point guard responsibilities this season under new head coach Mike D'Antoni. Look for Beverley's injury to be reassessed in a couple weeks.
