Rockets' Eric Gordon: Will start at shooting guard to open season
Gordon will open the season as the Rockets' starting shooting guard, ESPN.com's Calvin Watkins reports.
Analysis:
Patrick Beverley (knee) is set to miss the next four-to-six weeks, so the Rockets will go with a starting backcourt of James Harden and Gordon to begin the season. The two worked well alongside one another during the preseason, with Harden's skills off the dribble creating space for Gordon on the outside to knock down shots. It appears coach Mike D'Antoni likes the idea of using Harden as a full-time point guard, so even once Beverley is cleared to return, there's a decent chance Gordon will stick in the starting five alongside him. Gordon has had myriad health issues throughout his career, but after a healthy and effective preseason, his stock is on the rise heading into 2016-17.
