Veteran guard Dahntay Jones will have a championship ring to remember his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers, but not a spot on their roster.

The 35-year-old has been waived by the team, general manager David Griffin announced Monday.

As a result, guard DeAndre Liggins will be a part of the 2016-17 squad.

Jones made 15 appearances for Cleveland during its postseason run to the franchise's first title win, averaging 1.1 points and 0.5 rebounds in a limited 3.3 minutes coming off the bench.

His biggest impact of the playoffs occurred during the final seconds of Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals when he nailed former Toronto Raptors center Bismack Biyombo in the groin area.

Jones was suspended for one game due to his actions.

Liggins competed in all six of the team's preseason games, averaging 5.7 points and shooting 43.5 percent from the field.
