Wizards' John Wall: Comments on regular season workload

Wall said Monday that he believes he'll be able to play 30-plus minutes to begin the regular season, J. Michael of CSN Mid-Atlantic reports.

Analysis:

Wall was handled carefully in the preseason after offseason procedures on both knees, but he gradually worked up to 27 minutes in the Wizards' exhibition finale Friday against Toronto. Wall admitted to reporters Monday that he may not be able to play for prolonged stretches (8-to-10 minutes) to begin the year, but he noted that he believes he can still play 30-plus minutes without issue. Coach Scott Brooks was non-committal as to how Wall will be used initially, stating that the team won't set a specific minutes limit for the All-Star point guard. "That's still fluid. We're still talking about that. My guess, it's going to be pretty close," Brooks said after Monday's practice. "My job as the coach is to be able to manage that and not keep him out there and wear him out, game in, game out. I have a plan going into the game. ... There's going to be some games he plays extra minutes. We're not going to put a number on it."
