Report: Thunder to waive McGary, Price

Mark D. Smith / USA TODAY Sports

The Oklahoma City Thunder plan to waive Mitch McGary and Ronnie Price in an effort to trim down their final roster to 15, sources told Shams Charania of The Vertical.

The team will elect to keep center Semaj Christon with their final roster spot.

McGary was slated to serve a 15-game suspension for violating the NBA's substance abuse policy. He will still have to serve that punishment should he find another suitor in the NBA.

Otherwise, the former 21st pick of the 2014 draft will try to continue his career in China or Europe, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

Price, meanwhile, was to serve as the team's second-string point guard while sophomore Cameron Payne misses time due to an acute foot fracture, but OKC should have plenty of ball handling between Russell Westbrook and Victor Oladipo.
