Cavaliers' Kay Felder: Ruled out for Tuesday

Felder (concussion) has been ruled out for Tuesday's season opener against the Knicks, Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com reports.

Analysis:

Felder, who was expected to open up the season as the Cavs' backup point guard, remains under the league's concussion protocol and isn't on track to be ready in time for the start of the regular season. The Cavs were lacking in depth at point guard even before Felder picked up the concussion in Friday's practice, so the rookie's absence will force the team to turn to Iman Shumpert, a natural wing player, for top backup duties behind Kyrie Irving.
