One of the greatest players in the history of the Los Angeles Lakers franchise will have his legacy honored in the form of a throwback jersey during the upcoming 2016-17 NBA campaign.

The current youthful crop of Lakers talent will rock Earvin "Magic" Johnson-era throwback jerseys at some point this season, according to ESPN's Paul Lukas.

Johnson was the leader of the Lakers' "Showtime" offense during his main stint with the organization from 1979 to 1991. Recognized as one of the most flamboyant and charismatic performers in league history, Johnson was one of the first players to transcend into the world of entertainment, creating a brand and persona for himself that still carries on to this day.

He averaged 19.5 points, 11.2 assists, and 7.2 rebounds in 906 career appearances, and ranks sixth in Lakers history in games played, fifth in points, fourth in boards, and first in assists.
