Rockets' Patrick Beverley: Facing three-week recovery timetable

Beverley plans to undergo a minor surgical scope on his left knee next week and is expected to miss three weeks, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Analysis:

Coach Mike D'Antoni estimated Friday that Beverley would likely miss at least 20 games regardless of what treatment method he chose for the sore knee, but Wojnarowski's report paints a more optimistic outlook for the point guard. Even so, the three-week timetable would put Beverley on course to miss about 10 games, and it's far from a given that he'll be ready to go by mid-November, as he'll still have to regain conditioning after missing all of the preseason. Beverley's absence theoretically allows Pablo Prigioni and Tyler Ennis to climb up a peg on the depth chart, but there's a good possibility that backcourt starters Eric Gordon and James Harden will simply take on even more ball-handling responsibilities in the interim.
