Trail Blazers' Evan Turner: Falters off bench in Friday loss

Turner, who's been locked in a battle with Maurice Harkless for the starting small forward role, was held to just one point (0-8 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), three assists, two rebounds and a steal over 23 minutes in Friday's 107-96 preseason loss to the Warriors.

Analysis:

Turner's least productive effort of the exhibition slate likely couldn't have come at a worst time, given that it represented his final preseason opportunity to make a case for the starting small forward job. The veteran swingman is thus increasingly likely to open the season as part of the second unit, but given his positional versatility and strong defensive play, should see plenty of minutes regardless.
