Spurs' Jonathon Simmons: Will sit Friday against Rockets

Simmons is dealing with a right calf contusion and will sit out Friday's preseason game against the Spurs.

Analysis:

The Spurs are also missing Danny Green (quad), so the team may opt to turn to Manu Ginobili, Bryn Forbes and Kyle Anderson to handle most of the minutes at shooting guard. The nature of Simmons' injury doesn't sound particularly serious, but he'll retain the day-to-day tag until he resumes practicing with the Spurs.
