Hornets' Michael Kidd-Gilchrist: Racks up 14 boards in preseason win

Kidd-Gilchrist accumulated 10 points (5-9 FG), 14 rebounds, one assist and one steal across 30 minutes in Thursday's 96-88 preseason win over the Heat.

Analysis:

Kidd-Gilchrist had gone a miserable 14-for-53 (26.4%) from the field in the Hornets' prior five games, and while Thursday's 5-for-9 showing may look like in outlier in that regard, it's worth noting that the forward is a 46.7 percent career shooter over a 202-game sample. The 23-year-old still may fall below that career mark by virtue of assuming a larger offensive role as he enters his fifth NBA season, but probably won't notice a significant enough downgrade to make him a true liability in that category. Instead, it's his lack of scoring and three-pointers relative to most NBA starting small forwards that dings Kidd-Gilchrist's value in fantasy, despite the above-averaging rebounding he provides.
