Bulls' Doug McDermott: Paces bench in preseason finale

McDermott provided 16 points (5-15 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-4 FT), two rebounds and a steal over 26 minutes in Friday's 97-81 preseason loss to the Hawks.

Analysis:

Although his shot wasn't at its sharpest, McDermott made up for it with sheer volume on the way to his fourth straight double-digit scoring effort. The third-year pro was particularly aggressive on offense over the last three contests, taking double-digit shot attempts in each, including 18 tries from beyond the arc. Even with starting small forward Jimmy Butler's ability to take on a heavy minutes workload, McDermott still figures to log solid playing time as a viable scoring option on the second unit in the coming season.
