Celtics' Marcus Smart: Sprains ankle Wednesday
Smart won't return to Wednesday's preseason game against the Knicks after suffering a left ankle sprain.
Analysis:
Smart, who received a spot start at shooting guard while Avery Bradley was sitting out for rest, appeared to hurt the ankle when he stepped on the foot of the Knicks' Justin Holiday. He needed assistance off the court and was moving gingerly, so there's a chance the injury could affect his availability for the Oct. 26 season opener. The Celtics should provide an update on the extent of his injury after the game.
