While the New York Knicks and Houston Rockets squared off in Game 5 of the 1994 NBA Finals, O.J. Simpson and his white Ford Bronco were leading police on a chase down Los Angeles freeways.

Jeff Van Gundy shared a wild story about the car case back in June and now there's another, courtesy "Inside the NBA" analyst and former Rockets point guard Kenny Smith.

Here's what Smith shared at a TNT luncheon Tuesday, courtesy of Charles Curtis of For The Win:

I go in the huddle, I'm like, "O.J.'s on the run!" … Then (head coach) Rudy (Tomjanovich) comes into the huddle and we’re all talking.

"What are you guys doing?" (he asked.)

"O.J.'s on the run!"

"What are you doing? We're in the middle of the NBA Finals!"

He draws a play up, we start walking out and he pulls me back, (and asks) "Is he really on the run?"

Smith admitted that he and his teammates were distracted for a few minutes after finding out about the car chase - which, given the magnitude of the story, shouldn't come as much of a surprise.
