The Golden State Warriors aren't just a superteam, they're supervillains.

Head coach Steve Kerr acknowledged this, and said it's the reason why anything anyone from his club says might be twisted in the media.

Offseason acquisition Kevin Durant has already experienced plenty of this.

KD recently referred to his new teammates as "selfless," which a reporter conveyed to his former teammate Russell Westbrook as an implied slight to him and other Oklahoma City Thunder players.

Kerr insisted that's not what Durant intended with the comment.

"Suddenly it becomes a story in Oklahoma City," he told reporters Wednesday, as quoted by Anthony Slater of the Bay Area News Group. "Like, he didn't say anything about that. He was just commenting on his own team. So no matter what people say, it's gonna be scrutinized, twisted, turned."

"Even Charles (Barkley) blasting Kevin yesterday for saying negative stuff about Russell. Find me one quote where he was saying anything about Oklahoma City," Kerr added. "He's said nothing but good things. But the way people sort of perceive the comments and then shift them according to whatever their story may be, we all have to be careful about that."

The bench boss added that his organization will continue to have an open media policy, so it's up to the players to keep their guard up.
